FAQs
Q - Why is there only one half-term's worth of curriculum available currently?
A - We decided to start with Y3 Autumn 1 and then release subsequent half-termly units gradually so that we can take feedback into account when designing follow-on units
Q - Will there be units available for year groups other than Year 3?
A - Yes! However, we are starting with Year 3 in order to achieve the highest possible quality of resources before moving on to the following year groups. Eventually, the Tykeoons curriculum will go through to the end of Year 6
Q - I'm a Head Teacher/Principal who wants to introduce economics/finance lessons to my curriculum throughout KS2 immediately
A - We believe that best practice is to introduce economics at the start of the Key Stage and gradually phase it up the school from one academic year to the next. The reason for this is that, unlike with maths and English, pupils do not usually possess the key prior knowledge needed to access an age-appropriate economics/finance curriculum unless they have studied it previously
Q - Will I need to adapt/change any of the resources? What if the lessons are too hard/easy for my pupils?
A - You know your pupils better than anyone, which is why we would always suggest reviewing the lesson you're going to teach in advance and making any adjustments that will help to tailor the teaching to the needs of your learners. All files can be downloaded and edited using PowerPoint/Word or, if you are a Google School, you can simply make a copy of each file and edit these
Q - Will upcoming units be free like the first Year 3 unit is?
A - In order to build on what we offer and expand our curriculum all the way to Year 6, we will need to hire content creators and developers over coming years. Therefore, upcoming units will come with a modest financial commitment. We know schools' budgets are often stretched thinly, so we are carefully assessing the price point these will be made available at. It is likely to be between £50-£75 per module
